Getting to St. John is very easy, even though we have no airport.
1. Fly to St. Thomas airport (STT). There is only one airport on the island.
2. Take a taxi to one of the ferry terminals, either Charlotte Amalie or Redhook.
3. Take a ferry ride to Cruz Bay, St. John.
If you prefer a short taxi ride (10 mins.) and a long ferry (45 mins.), take the taxi to Charlotte Amalie (also called
OdowntownO). The taxi will cost approximately $5 per person plus $1 per bag, and the ferry rate is $7 per person. Ferries leave Charlotte Amalie for Cruz Bay at 9:00 and 11:00 AM, and 1:00, 3:00, 4:00, and 5:30 PM.
If you prefer a longer taxi ride (35-40 mins) and a shorter ferry (15 mins.), take the taxi to Red Hook. The taxi will cost approximately $9 per person plus $1 per bag, and the ferry rate is $3 per person. Ferries leave Red Hook for Cruz Bay every hour on the hour, starting at 8:00 AM and continuing until the last boat at midnight.
Note: The taxi fares are regulated. If there are more than two people in the taxi, the fare from the airport to Red Hook is $9 per person, plus $1 per bag. A tip is very welcome, but not required.
